University-wide Navigation

The Link List paragraph is a highly structured way to organize and display groups of related links. This paragraph type is particularly effective for creating navigation hubs, resource lists, or "Quick Links" sections, presenting them in a clean, professional grid layout.

Link Lists

The Link List paragraph allows you to group multiple links together into a cohesive section. These links are displayed as "Grid Items," which automatically arrange themselves in a responsive layout of up to three columns, depending on the number of items added.

Structure of a Link List

A Link List is composed of a main container and individual items.

  • Headline: This is the primary title for the entire list section (e.g., "Student Resources").
  • Grid Items: These are the individual blocks within the list. You can add multiple grid items to a single paragraph.

Configuring Grid Items

Each individual Link List Title or grid item contains several fields to help provide context for the user:

  • Title: The heading for that specific group of links.
  • Description (Optional): A rich text area where you can provide a brief summary or instructions related to that group of links.
  • Described Links: This is where the actual URLs are added. Each link within a grid item includes:
    • URL: The destination address. You can search for internal pages by typing the page title or enter external URLs starting with https://.
    • Link Text: The clickable text the user will see.
    • Description: Additional sub-text that appears specifically under that individual link for extra clarity.

Layout and Behavior

The UK Web Platform handles the heavy lifting for the visual presentation. As you add grid items, the platform organizes them into a balanced grid. If you add three items, they will sit side-by-side in a three-column row. On smaller screens, like mobile phones, the platform automatically stacks these items vertically to maintain readability.

How to Add a Link List

  1. In the Paragraphs section of your page, select Add Link List.
  2. Enter a Headline for the overall section.
  3. Under Grid Items, click the button to add a new item.
  4. Provide a Title and a short Description for the group.
  5. In the Described Links section, enter your URL, the text to be displayed, and any optional supporting description for the link.
  6. To add more links to the same group, click Add another item within that grid item block.
  7. To start a new column/group, add a new Grid Item at the top level.
